How to add default actions and automations to button, form, survey, or quiz

Written by Mariana

Actions

Default actions are actions assigned to be performed when a button, form, survey, or quiz is clicked. They will also serve as fallbacks should conditional actions not apply to a visitor.

Standalone button actions

  • Redirect to URL - Redirects to a specified website URL

  • Jump to a funnel step - Jump to the specified step in the funnel on multi-step campaigns

  • Display another campaign - Opens a specified popup campaign

  • Subscribe via SMS code - Sends SMS code to subscribe to a list

Survey, form, and quiz button actions

  • Show a thank you message - Displays an editable thank you message with limited styling options

To add/edit actions to a campaign button, this can be done by clicking on the button/form/survey/quiz, clicking on the "Actions" tab, then clicking on edit "Default Actions":

This will trigger the default actions modal to pop up, where the actions can be added/edited:

Actions can also be triggered when certain conditions are met. To learn more about conditional actions please head to this article →

Automations

Automations are the rules added to campaigns and will trigger when a button, form, survey, or quiz is clicked. These automations will run for all visitors who convert with the campaign, even if they qualify for conditional action automations.

ConvertFlow automations

  • Track completion of campaign - Tracks the completion of the campaign on any step, this is useful for tracking the completion goal of multi-step campaigns

  • Send alert - Sends an email with all the contact profile data to specified emails

  • Add a tag - Adds a ConvertFlow tag that isn't sent to integrations, so it's contained within ConvertFlow. Works for anonymous visitors and contacts.

  • Remove a tag - Removes a ConvertFlow tag

  • Update custom field - Updates custom contact fields with the given value

  • Update score - Updates the contact's score data

  • Add to score - Formula to add to the contact's score

  • Subtract from score - Formula to subtract from the contact's score

Integration automations

Integration automations will vary depending on the platform that's integrated. Some integrations may have the following automations to use:

  • Add to list - Adds contact to a specified email list

  • Add to list with confirmation - Adds contact to a specified email list with email verification

  • Unsubscribe from list - Removes contact from a specified list

  • Add a tag - Adds an integration tag that isn't visible in ConvertFlow. Only works for identified contacts

  • Remove a tag - Removes an integration tag

  • Update custom field - Updates custom contact fields with the given value

  • Etc...

To add/edit automations on a campaign button, click the button/form/survey/quiz, then click on the "Actions" tab, and finally click on edit "Default Action":

This will trigger the default actions modal, where both the default actions and automations can be added/edited:

By scrolling through this list, integration automations will also show after an integration has been connected successfully:
